FAQs for 3D Printer Filament

Question

-How to solve the clog problem in the process of printing?

Answer

-1. For silk PLA filament, the softening temperature is lower, you can turn off the retraction setting.

-2. It is necessary to clean up the filaments blocked in the tube throat before printing for the second time.

Question

-Why doesn't the filament stick to the build bed easily?

Answer

-1. Temperature. Please check the temperature(bed and nozzle) settings before printing and set it suitable;

-2. Leveling. Please check if the bed is level, make sure the nozzle doesn't too far or too close to the bed;

-3. Speed. Please check if the printing speed of the first layer is too fast.

Question

-How to avoid tangles when printing?

Answer

-1. When you take the filament out from the bag without fixing the filament ending, inadvertently it slips to the coil and mess with strings, you will need to take a while to find the end and pick it up then inject to tension gets tighter, the filament will stuck and the printing will stop.

-2. So please fix the filament end at each time printing, please fix the filament end at the spool hole to make sure the filament won't loose at any time.

Question

-How to fix prolems with holes or gaps in the top layer of printed models?

Answer

-1. Increase the number of the solid layers on the top layer. The top solid layer should be printed at least 0.5mm thick, usually in multiples of the nozzle. It is recommended that 1.2mm be used.

-2. Increase the prints fill rate.

Question

-How to store the 3D printer filament?

Answer

-1. The filament tends to absorb moisture from air, which can make it brittle or degrade. Once the package is opened, we recommend you put the filament with desiccant in a sealed bag, or something comparable.

-2. You can also put your 3D printer filament in a dryer box like our 3Dgenius Dryer Box. It will get moisture out of filaments and help you solove most printing problems like clogging, layer shift, stringging and ahesion. It can help you get better printing results.

Question

-How to get a wonderful printing item?

Answer
-1. Please use 0.4mm or larger than 0.4mm nozzle to print.
-2. It is recommended to apply PVA glue if your plate surface has been used for a long time. This will help you solve the problem of hard sticking to the build bed or warping.

-3. If you don't use the filament for some time, please store the filament in a large zipper storage bag to prevent from absorbing moisture, thus make the filament in dry situation with better strorage life.

Level 1: 45℃±3℃. Level 2: 55℃±3℃. Level 3: 70℃±3℃.

It can be adjusted by mode key"M" and function key “+” and “-”.

Question

-Can I print the filament while heating and drying?

Answer

-Yes, but for better results, we recommend you to heat and dry the damp filament for a while before printing.

Question

-How many filament holes are there in the filament dry box?

Answer

-There are three holes in the filament dryer box and the diameter of the hole is 3mm, which is suitable for 1.75mm and 2.85mm filament. Three different positions of the filament outlet holes can meet your needs for a variety of printing position.

Question

-What do I need to pay attention to before putting the filament into the filament dryer box?

Answer

-Please keep the filament tightly winded to the roll to avoid it being in a loose state. In order to avoid the filament and heating palte contact for too long, the filament has melting and damage risk.
